What Are the Features to Look for in a Tent?

Tent that has aluminium poles

Some tents have fibreglass poles that could easily break because these are fragile. In case a pole bends or breaks, replacements/repair kits are available in majority of camping stores.

Tent that has sufficient rainfly

A tent's umbrella is called rainfly. It should be big enough to accommodate the number of people who will use it. Also, it is better to choose one that spreads well to the tent's sides instead of only across the top. A rainfly is waterproof while tents repel water.

Tent that has double stitches and folded seams

When users are able to pull the material on the sides of a seam and look through the stitches, it is most likely to leak. It is better to apply seam sealer on every seam.

Tent that has one piece of tub floor

The material of the tent's floor should be waterproof and have a space of a few inches on the sides before sown to its walls. When there is no seam, water will not be able to seep in.

Tent has enough guy lines

Loops are sown near the center of tent walls and at times, rainflies. These connect the guy lines pulling the walls outward. It is difficult to sleep inside a tent that flaps in the wind.

Tent that has the right size of stake loops

The tent base should have loops in all corners and at the middle of every side. These should have the right size to fit in the large plastic stakes seen in camping stores. People prefer metal stake loops because plastic ones could break when hammering in the stakes.
